Bloedel Reserve, Washington - July 16th, 2024

Bloedel Reserve was about a forty minute drive from Scenic Beach State Park, where we were camping. Bloedel Reserve is a private nature preserve which requires a timed entry ticket purchased in advance online. It is a lovely place to spend a couple of hours.

Tuesday we visited the Bloedel Reserve on Bainbridge Island. The Bloedel Reserve was originally a private residence and farm. It has been open to the public since the 1980’s as a place to wander through the 140 acres and tour the house.

The house was completed in the early 1950’s. Most of the landscaping is not formal gardens, but more of a natural setting. It is a very relaxing stroll, with a map and trail.

The trail takes you through different areas, such as the Pollinator Meadow, the Bird Marsh, the Moss Garden, the Rhododendron Glen, and the Orchid Trail.

The two miles took us about two hours to complete, with Ann taking lots of pictures along the way. It was a pleasant way to spend half a day.

The rest of the day we just hung out back at camp. The super glue fix for the loose piece of moulding did not hold. So Keith tried fixing it again, this time with silicone. We’ll let you know if it works. (Spoiler alert: it works!)

Was the Bloedel Reserve worth the cost of the admission? We thought so. Take a look at Ann’s pictures in our related video and decide for yourself.
